Question: What Does TWAIN Compliant mean? 

Answer: TWAIN stands for Technology Without Any Interesting Name. TWAIN defines a standard software protocol and application-programming interface (API) for communication between software applications and image acquisition devices. The Panasonic KV-S series scanners come bundled with TWAIN drivers.  

Question: What Does ISIS stand for? 

Answer: ISIS stands for Image and Scanner Interface Standard. ISIS, a de facto standard created by Pixel Translations, Inc., a division of Input Software (formerly Cornerstone Imaging), is a system of software modules, each of which performs a specific image related function. ISIS modules are available to control scanners and printers, assist in the viewing of images, compress and convert the format of image data, and read or write files containing data. Panasonic KV-SS series SCSI scanners come bundled with high performance ISIS Certified drivers for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, WindowsNT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. 

Question: Can I lease a scanner? 

Answer: Yes, at ImagingXtra we offer a variety of Leasing options. It is possible to lease a scanner for 1, 2, 3, or 5 years depending on your requirements.

Question: Can I share scanned documents through our network? 

Answer: Yes, providing the scanning station is connected to a company's network, it is possible to retrieve scanned images from the PC the scanner is attached to.
Whatsmore, Panasonic are developing an optional wireless connection, which will allow users' to retrieve images from the scanning station from any where within the area covered by their network. This means that remote users, such as sales representatives would be able to download images to their laptops without having to send e-mails etc. 

Question: What Features Does RTIV offer? 

Answer: RTIV, which stands for Reliable Throughput Image Viewer, offers the user a wide range of features and options.
The software, which comes free with every Panasonic scanner, has recently been updated to offer the user extra features, such as the ability to save document s straight to PDF.

Question: What is KOFAX and how will I benefit from using it? 

Answer:  KOFAX is a privately held California corporation established in 1985 to create and market hardware and software products needed to bring document image processing technology onto personal computer platforms. Today the company is one of the industry's leading developers of component software applications, component development tools and hardware accelerators used to build production-level document imaging solutions for the PC LAN environment. Panasonic's line of high-speed scanners is compatible with KOFAX Image Accelerator cards.

Question: What are the terms of the scanner warranties? 

Answer: Panasonic Scanner warranty terms and conditions, see below:

  1. This Panasonic Scanner is covered by an on site repair warranty. Please retain your proof of purchase, as this will be required, in the unlikely event that your machine should require attention. The warranty cover commences the day of equipment installation. Installation is deemed to be at the end users site. The warranty applies only to the supplied hardware. Panasonic will investigate problems arising from software "bundled" with the product; however it is not covered by this warranty.
  2. This warranty is in addition to and does not in any way affect your statutory rights. This warranty relates only to products used within mainland Great Britain. Please refer to your dealer for warranty information relating to products situated outside mainland Great Britain.
  3. You should complete the registration form overleaf and fax it to us within 5 days of purchase; failure to do so may result in a delay in providing warranty service. Please fax to 0151 907 0028 for the attention of the scanner warranty department.
  4. This warranty only covers breakdowns due to design or manufacturing faults; it does not apply to damage, howsoever caused, wear and tear, misuse, neglect, incorrect adjustment or repair, or to any items of limited life. In addition damaged due to failure to carry out preventative maintenance as outlined in the user manual will not be covered by the warranty.
  5. This warranty does not cover consumables, i.e. feed tyres
  6. In the event of a failure please take the following action: · Refer to the "Help" section of your instruction manual in order to identify and possibly correct the problem.
    If the problem is not resolved after referring to the user guide, please contact the Warranty Helpline on  08709 097357  or  +44151 906 3109  if calling from outside the UK.
  7. Before you telephone please have the following information ready, · Your site number, contact name, model number and serial number · A good description of the fault and any other relevant information.
  8. Where the product is found to be faulty as a result of unauthorised repairs, modifications or damage, either by accident, misuse or improper installation, then Panasonic reserve the right to charge the customer the actual cost of repair, at a price related to the market rate for such work.
  9. This warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable
  10. The original warranty period is 12 months from date of installation; extensions on the warranty will be in 12 monthly increments up to 60 months. For more details about the extended warranty and/or upgrading to the premium warranty please contact the warranty helpline or your supplying dealer.
  11. We will use your registration details to affect a repair under the terms of the warranty and to remind you when your warranty is due to expire. Further extended warranty details will be sent out to you approximately two months before your warranty period ends.
  12. In the event your current warranty expires prior to an extension being purchased an inspection of the equipment will be required before such cover is agreed upon and will be charged at the usual rates.
  13. If the equipment is to be relocated then prior notice must be given, damage caused due to movement of the equipment will not be covered by the warranty. 

Question: What is the difference between the standard 8+8 warranty and the premium 4+4 warranty? 

Answer: Standard warranty Relates to 8 + 8 cover with which we aim to have the equipment restored to working order within 16 hours of the first call being made or a swap out unit provided.
Premium Relates to 4 + 4 cover with which we aim to have the equipment restored to working order within 8 hours of the first call being made or a swap out unit provided.
